Woah... time really does just fly by. It's really the end of August 2008 and I feel like I've done so little whenever I look at my life plan. I guess no matter how hard I plan and try to stay true to a timeline, there really just some things that are out of my control

ah well, at least, I got one step done of my life plan: I am finally a duly registered nurse here in the Philippines... becoming an RN in Canada remains to be seen... damn.

There goes my timeline again.

grabe. ang tagal ko ng di naka=post >_< sori po. isang computer, at dalawang ti-different time zones kami ng kapatid ko - in short, kulang ang computer. =)

ah well. late october na. grabe, ang bilis talaga ng panahon. na-realize na lang namin, we've been here 4 months na pala. amazing.. lalo na kung i-add mo lahat ng ginastos namin sa bills... >_< nakaka-depress lalo.

but anyways = updates

last weekend: had our car broken into. Sinira ang lock pati ang ignition. Called insurance. Had it fixed. Then the shop told us we had to pay over $300 for it. Kasi part of the policy daw yun. WE pay the first $300 then the insurance pays the rest.. nakakainis. thought we didn't have to pay anything. turns out that was quite a save = kasi ang estimate ng shop is over $1200 ang damages >_< pero, ironic, kasi hindi na rin malayo sa price ng mismong car. haha. ish-life.

today, we had to move our clocks back one hour. End of Daylight Savings Time. tried to read up on it. don't get it. basta may 1 hour akong extras matulog. payts na.

nakakatuwa. malapit na ang halloween. hindi ang mga bata ang lingaw. ang fact na may 4-5 aisles para sa halloween, and ang next 4-5 aisles sa department stores ay para sa Christmas. talk about amusing. and, o nga pala, sinabihan ako ng kasama ko sa trabaho: di daw pwede magsabi ng Merry Christmas, dapat daw Happy Holidays to be politically correct.. what? anong kinalaman ng goodwill to all men and celebration of goodness and compassion to being politically (and religiously) correct?

anyways. fact is: miss ko na po kayong lahat. iba pa rin ang Christmas sa Pinas. nagsugod na ko ug kahadluk sa bugnaw dinhi. Avergae daily temperatures for this week is about 8 degrees. Not fun, kasi ang lakas at ang lamig ng hangin - murag kug ignoy, nalingaw pagkita sa akong hininga tungod sa kabugnaw =) shit, kadaghan nakong napalit para lang sa change of season. coats, scarves, gloves, beanies... darn, still have no shoes...

anyways. post more. am always reading them. ehem: matamaan sana ang payatut na matangkad na mestisa na taga-Davao dinha. pag-post or pag-email!

Life is full of irony. And people have a name for it... karma.

This thought slapped me on the face just 5 minutes ago. Here's the whole story:

I fell in love with Lee Jun Ki.

I fell in love with "King and the Clown" on youtube. Watched the whole movie there... again, and again, and again.

Downloaded the movie. Video played great... but no audio, and no subtitle.

Bought the DVD on ebay for $15 instead.

Downloaded VLC Media Player just 10 minutes ago... it played... with the audio... but no subtitles...

Downloaded the subtitles 6 minutes ago...

The whole movie plays great... great video, audio, and subtitle quality.

Ish-karma. Ish-life.

SIGH... at least in a week, I'll have my own DVD... waaah!

Nagsugod na sa kabugnaw dinhi bayeet! Average daily temp for the next 2 weeks is 16C accdg to the local weather forecast - and ranges from low 12 to high 17. Kana kung mag stay ka in 1 place minus the hangin... na mas bugnaw ug mas kusog pa.

There is a good outcome of this: shopping! Yay! Fall clothes! Never had those before (of couse 2 seasons lang naman po ang Pinas), but my office-mates are all so amused that this is my first Fall and Winter... and how excited I am to see snow :)

Kaya lang... wait lang daw pag winter na: halo lakas hangin, sige ulan, and -10 to 0 degrees and weather... kung malingaw pa ba daw ko...

Init bitaw sa sulod sa opisina... >_<

Pero like now. Dili ko ganahan mugawas sa apartment. Bugnaw sa gawas. Ulan. it's about 13C out there. Bahala sila mama mag-adto sa laundry para maglaba... >_< ka-bad nako uy.

Kamusta na dinha? -ber naman, naa na baligya nga mga Christmas decoration no? bugnaw-bugnaw nasad? Hope you get that wonderful weather we had last year: muggy all around for a week (overclouded, bugnaw, pero wala ulan :) )

Dinhi, halloween decor pa ang naga-uso. Will post pictures before halloween so that you'll see how weird these people are...

Wala, yun parin.... Ah! May sasakyan na pala kami. Nakamura sila mama and papa. Kaya lang papatayin ka din sa Insurance. $250 every month. Grabe!

And grabe ang bilis ng pag-transfer ng sasakyan, autograph lang ng autograph si Mama and yung seller, tapos na...

And stupid... ako... at yung receptionist sa Driver's Licensing office. Di na lang ako nag-take ng driver's knowledge test, kelangan ko daw ng proof that I've been driving for at least 24 months... and ako, dahil, ngayong 1 week before the deadline (as in mawawala na ang bisa ng aking license) pa ako pumunta sa office nila at nag-inquire >_<

ah well, ish-life.

La lang po. Nagapakabana lang ko sa inyo. Nalingaw man gud ko karon. Astig kaayo ang season premiere sa House. Astig talaga si House!

Thank you Katya for introducing me to him. Ngayon ako nagkakaloka sa kaka-download ng mga dvd specials.

And, dahil mabilis aming internet, at gusto ni Ellaine, nag-download ako ng Gokusen Live Action. yes, tinapos ko na. Pati ang dvd special, yung sa mismong graduation. Hindi pa rin nagbago paningin ko sa Gokusen:

1) Astig si Yankumi when she switches to yakuza mode.
2) Funny ang mga estudyante nya pagnaga threaten na siya ng "Do you want to die?" :)
3) Grabe sa ka-dramatic ang Ep 12. Sobra. I stopped counting how many times I heard "Yankumi" after the first five minutes.
4) Malingaw gihapon ko paminaw sa background music, labi na pag kay Sawatari :)

Am actually thinking of downloading GTO... what would you guys suggest? Which is better, the anime or the live action?

And one more thing: nakabili na ako ng mp3 player! yay! i know, sad, ngayon lang ako nakabili. but still... yay!

Di ba plano kong mag-save up at bumili ng laptop dito? Na-realize ko bago lang: 110V ang gamit dito. 220V ang pinas. Help me. Any info kelangan. Read a little on the internet (ang kaunti ng naintindihan): need a transformer and a surge protector. Kaya lang ang mahal. So ano ba talaga ang kelangan ko? Pls. If anything...

Yay! Was so happy to get a letter from Pal! <- padungog ni kay Steph, Myka, and Krisha. Pagpakabana pud mo. I think I mentioned my tendency to shift between Bisaya and English... kasi po baluktot aking Filipino. Pagpasensyahan.

Ok lang po kami dito. Naiinis lang sa init. Ok lang naman ang humidity level. Kasi kahit mainit ang galing sa taas, ang hangin nman ay 17 C, so payts lang. As for recent developments:

Ang init dito grabe. Dumating na sa punto na wala na koy pakialam nga mag-payong ko. Bahala mo mag-enjoy sa init. Ako wala gyud. Pero sila'y mag-wonder kung ngano naka pantalon gihapon ko. Lami kaayo ingnan 'this is normal weather in the Philippines.'

Speaking of weather: kamusta na kayo diyan? Grabe man bagyo (may TV Patrol dito) dinha uy!

As for my workplace. it's kind of cool. never knew so much work had to go into teeth, like crowns, dentures, and whatnots. It's kind of fun actually. There's the rush (though, not as much), when I was still a student (huh, still weirded out when I hear myself using the past tense on being a student...). As for the people, they're really good company...

I'm working in a dental laboratory that's like a UN meeting:
There's Sherry (Canadian), who's my direct supervisor. She's nice, and tries to keep everything afloat and light as possible... eventhough everyone getting cranky about deadlines not being met... though I worry about her getting a cardiovascular disease... she's obese. but still so cool.
There's Edwin, the one whose job I'm taking over. He's smart and funny in his own weird way (read= I think he's gay) :) Wala lang, so feminine kasi ang dating niya. Pero he's cool too.
There's Reiko, Edwin's mom, the owner's wife. She's Japanese. She's so cute! And she corrects my pronunciation. But don't expect me to be sprouting any Japanese soon, can't have much of a lesson in a workplace...
There's John, the owner, he's laid-back, and cool too. He knows everything all the technicians in the lab knows how to do...
There's James who makes me remember of James the 'hangman' He's so cute, he's a driver here, and as he was comparing distances, I found it so adorable that he would refer to a route with 'zoom zoom' :)
Then there's Glynis. She's british. I have little and close to no respect for her. When you ask her a question, she delves on the unnecessary. She's too sensitive: she cries when someone critics her (she actually cried my first day here when Edwin introduced her as a driver, what's wrong with being a driver), and today, she has a cold (and cough that's been lasting for the last month), and when I reminded her to cover her mouth, she got offended and yapped about, not being able to take a day off, and I was like, that's completely understandable, but please cover your mouth, we're in an insulated room, if you don't, we're all going to get sick...
Blah, blah, blah.
Samok kaayo na tao.
The compensation: There are others too, all of them are really nice people in collective.

And now to my reactions to the letter Pal sent me. (Yes, padungog ni kay Steph, Myka, and Krisha!)

What?! Your season in judo was moved? ...by Studio 23? huh? they can do that? Isn't the sports events like an entirely different thing from them? More details please...

Astig naman! Thesis na man gyud! Senior na gyud kaayo! Gud luck to you Pal on that. Hope everything turns out all right...

As for the episodes, nag-iisip pa kung bibili or not... Kasi, pirated cds I can't bring in to Canada, so sayang lang... pero am saving for a laptop kasi (Charmos! With my own money... pagmag-sale...), so maybe I'll just copy some of them? Kaya Pal, pahiram ng: House and Lost. Yan pa muna ngayon :)

Hello po sa inyong lahat. Ako ay nandito sa Surrey Public Library. Dahil malamig. At dahil uber-init sa labas ng library. As in mama-ak sa kainit. Sakit kaayo. And weather forecasts say this could go on for another week or so.

Grabe nigawas gyud akong pagka-Ilocana. Itom na gyud ko. Piskot ni...

Kamusta na man mo dinha? Exams na, kung tama calculations ko... Prelims? Musta man?

Ako, nalipay ug maayo. Isa lang man gud ka train ride ang Metrotown (ang uber sa laking mall sa Burnaby, BC) at, eto ang love ko: Sakura Media :) :) Kulang ang dalawang smiles as in. Gusto kong mag-build ng altar doon. Pero next month na siguro ako bibili (they have everything!!!), still waiting for my paycheck to get in...

Grabe they have the CDs, the posters, and the manga.. as in grabe. O nga pala, my favorite: Kyo plushie!!! As in super kawaii!

Kaya lang 6" high lang siya at 15CAD siya. Mahal. Sunod na lang.

Kaya mag-decide na kung ano ang gusto, at tingnan ko kung ano ang magfit sa budget ko, yun ang pasalubong ninyo (think of it as Chritmas/Birthday/Pasalubong actually. Yes, kuripot gihapon ko).

Pero, Tippie, I am buying, for myself :) the next 2 novels of "Only the Ring Finger Knows" :) Ano nga pala binili mo para sa akin na Gravitation? Hanggang 12 lang kasi yan. May 12 dito...

Grabe! What a first month it has been! Am currently enjoying a full-time job (40 hrs/wk) here as an Office Assistant in a Dental Laboratory. Pays good considering I've never had work experience (Minimum wage in BC is $6-8 for no work experience).

Ang sad lang siguro kay si Mama. She wants to practice her profession here but she can't - no Canadian work experience kasi. And I guess it's really hard for her, unlike us, to have settled her mindset that she shouldn't equal Canada to Philippines. We don't have the same privileges here as we do back home. Did I mention that she hates the idea of falling into the housewife role? Which she's in...

But I've come to think of the 2-Bedroom part of the Main floor of the house... still having a hard time to properly describe where we're renting... as home.

Ah well, the days are still longer here (The sun's out till 10 pm). And you won't believe the heat (iniisip ko na nasa Pinas ako... minus the humdidity, yay!). But everything's good. We're eating 3 times a day.

So hope you're all doing fine as well, if not better. Charmos kaayo! Senior year na gyud ang gina-istoryahan nato! Go!

Um, grabe ang stress ng moving to places. yun lang po.

Kapoy kaayo mag-arrange sa buong balay. Sa tanan nimong gamit - kelangan i-fold, i-cellophane, i-box, i-label, at buhatin sa mas mataas na level ng aparador... ginapamaulan pa ko... never knew I had so much stuff.

and di pa ako tapos...

and may dumadagdag pa ng stress: and cousin kong nagpasalig na siya ang titra sa bahay until we come back ay nagback-out... kahapon lang. and next week na kami aalis. Saan kami hahanap ng kapalit?! Ay, kainis. Mabuti na lang andyan ang maid... Siya na lang daw, ok lang...

and i realized somewhere along the way... noong sinabi kong 1 week is so much time...

it's not enough...

not enough to pack all of the things you really want to bring

not enough clean every inch of the house before we leave

not enough to have all loose ends tied up (like those from my Mom's work)

not enough to properly say goodbye to those you care about...

will keep this one short...

I have to thank Pal for giving me this LJ, it's proven to be very therapeutic for me. True, it doesn't necessarily dampen all of my psychotic tendencies, but it helps in keeping most of the symptoms away. No, seriously, the LJ has proven to be a wonderful outlet for me: for my whines (especially for my whines), kamustas, and whatnots.

Kaya, Steph and Myka, magsulat naman kayo sa LJ nyo. Sige, lalo kayong mapraning nyan. Special mention kay Steph.... ano kayo ghosts? Para updated naman din sa inyong life.

Pal, uplok masyado ang answer na ^_^ sa "are you in love?" pero, in your case, that's okay. It's personal na nga naman, di ba? Pero it's still frustrating... which means I am now VERY curious... hehe

wish I could stay in Manila before we leave. My mom won't allow for that. So maybe when I get back home? I could weal my way into 1-2 days stay in manila.

O nga pala, went to Cebu last Sunday-Wednesday. Wala masyadong important na nangyari. Mainit. Masarap and otap, barquiron, at peñato. yun lang yun.

It's funny... how much I wish that a day could go longer, just to fit in all the things I have to do... It's likfe, 24 hours in a day isn't enough. And then my CI says, yeah, it could be like that, but then I'd only have to learn to properly manage my time... But it still doesn't work. Or maybe I just don't try hard enough... I'll put a lot more effort in it.

The plan to migrate to Canada is in full motion. And, as expected, am in a jumble of emotions. There's fear, anticipation, amusement, indignation (at my parents... esp my mom, who can't just relax...), and a lot of frustration. Where the heck am I going to put all of my stuff? Ah well, there's what about 5 weeks until we go?

Time management must enter here.

I have a case study (yes, and mitsa sa buhay ko) due next week. My mom's pressuring me to help her... which always equals to a lot of stress, more so than duty... and she's stuffing the work down the days I have no duty. Grabe na stress levels ko! Thank God there's Great Taste Iced Cofee! From Mocha Java, to Coffee Caramel, and to Cofee Chocolat, getting high on caffeine can be so easy. :)

Ah well, at least amusing palagi ang duty. (Sori, ilalagay ko na sa isang daanan)

When we student nurses end up doing nothing in-between shifts, we usually find a little nook in the ward where we could hang out and take the time to chilld. Well...

Situation 1:(Toxic ang patient ko at this time, kaya second-hand info lang 'to, pero lingaw pa rin)

Nasa hallway mga classmate ko. As usual, nag-chichika bout anything and everything, nang biglang lumapit si Sir Bunao (our summer CI) para samahan ang isa naming classmate sa kanyang assigned room, nang bigla siyang napatingin sa kabilang room at nagsabing "Hala, wala lagi ditong naa-assign na student nurse..."

Walang ng tao paglingon niya, nag-alisan na ang lahat. Tumakbo at lumipat ng hallway.

Situation 2: (Toxic ang patient ko at this time, kaya second-hand info lang 'to, pero lingaw pa rin)

Maganda at spacious ang linen room ng ward kung saan kami assigned ngayon. Private Rooms kasi, kaya uber-ganda ang place. Tama lang, mahal ang per day. Anyway, ng biglang enter si Sir Bunao

1st entry: "Hinaya inyong tingog, kusog kaayo."
2nd entry: "Bumalik na nga kayo sa inyong rooms."
3rd entry: "Kamusta ating prayer meeting?"

Situation 3:

May classmate kaming parang elf ang ears, as in pointed talaga.

Sir Bunao: "Kamusta ngayon sa Rivendell?"

Situation 4:

Before endorsement, napansin naming nakikialam aming Ci ng patients' charts... Napansin din naming unique ang shoes niya. The kind na 1 inch high sa labas, at alam mong may 1 inch support din sa loob.

Situation 5:

We were having a quiz. Last numbers were calculations, so ok lang. Kaya lang, ang tagal matapos ng clasmates ko. Kaya, parang bata na may ADHD, kumanta ako ng song na LSS ako. Umuwi ka na baby (actually, LSS pa rin), tapos in the effort na mashift aking LSS, kumanta ako ng Cagayan Parkview Hotel.

Sir Bunao: "Ms. Corpuz, naka-inom ka ba ng Haloperidol?" (Haloperidol is an antipsychotic drug)

Situation 6:

Pauwi na kami matapos kumain ng lunch at 3pm sa Gaisano Mall (grabe ka toxic ang patient, di na lang kami kumain ng lunch sa tamang oras). Nakita naman si sir Bunao. 1st reaction: ABOUT FACE!

Kinabukasan: "Ingun-ana diay. Dili na ta magkaila paghuman duty? Talkdan man dayun ko! Mudagan pa gyud palayo..."

Kami: "Sir, reflex na sa aming mga estudyante na magtago, mag-arte na merong ginagawa, tumakbo o maglakad sa kabilang direksyon kung may parating na CI..."

Amazing, my livejournal has actually existed for the last 2 years... amazing... considering that my electronic e-mail and whatnot always get lost in cyberspace via me forgetting they actually exist or me knowing them but forgetting the username and password, or both :P

la lang, andito na naman. Nag-uumaga na matulog dahil sa case study and research proposal. at least edits na lang ang case study. uplok masyado nung defense, grabe, duguan masyado aming case study. it's quite amazing when you look at it, parang banig sa daming patong-patong na ekis nilagay ng CI... ah well, at least tapos na. Problema na lang ang research na 3 weeks lang ang binigay sa amin... or in our time, 3 days kasi nagsabayan lahat ng requirements....

Payts lang uy. malapit na matapos ang second sem!!!

Haha. Irony of life: ako nanaman po ang handler ng clearances... amazing ang life...

nways, musta naman kayo lahat? Ok lang? Kelan uwi nyo? Know Pal is coming home by the 28th and Tippie's by the 29th...

Really need to talk to you guys about a family thing... it's not actually an emergency or a crisis or anything, just that it's a long-term kind of thing...

Wow... nakasulat muli sa LJ... himala.

Anyway, updates muna. Am in psychiatric nursing rotation now until about 2(?) weeks from now. Just went to Nabunturan last weekend to interview the family of our patient for the case study. AStig ang Nabunturan. Evrybody knows everybody. Our pedicab driver also served as our tour guide. Fun masyado mga kasama ko: si James, palagi na lang Canatian ang sinasabi, di namin alam kung bakit, he forgets we're in Nabunturan; si Erika and Roxanne, nagdadasal ng pasigaw everytime may lubak kaming nadadaanan; at kami ni Sittie, sige tawa sa likod kay Roxanne and Erika...:P

Lingaw makipag-usap sa buang. As in. Ang dami kasing hallucination and delusion., ang sarap sakyan. Kaya lang, para maging therapeutic, dapat ibalik sa reality. Sigh, the temptation.

My running joke nga kami eh: "Tell me more." If a patient is actively hallucinating, you must clarify and stay with the patient in order to get him/her back to reality, kaya "tell me more."

And, dahil katatapos na rin, (argh!) 20 na ako. In fairness, I am very young... compared to a Sequoia :P

Fun man ang birthday ko today, kung hindi lang nareminfd ng requirements for the week. ang sarap iiyak at itulg na lang... kaya lang, 2 weeks na lang, kaya to. aja!

Just thought about that line from "Dogma" where they discuss why people attend masses on Sundays... not entirely because of faith, but because it's become a habit.

There's this one joke about it:

A priest was trying to say something but his mike was broken. so he said to his aide at his side "the mike's broken"

and the congregation said: also with you...

thought about it while attending mass actually. then had this idea of "what if the church actually changes the sequence of the Mass? Hmmm..."

then thought it would be quite a blasphemy since the Eucharist is dervied from the Last Supper of Christ

Watched kanina the Golden Globe Awards... saw and felt two things at the show:

1. Brokeback Mountain (Best Picture) is a story about 2 cowboys falling in love. =P

due to the high demand of someone (ehem!) here is my upd8:

Ever had those days when you feel you're so pressed for time and Murphy's law can't just get enough of you and comes bite you in the ass by seemingly going faster?

I dunno, I feel like it... but then again, it really isn't entirely somebody else's fault as much as it is mine (yes, I am big enough of a person to say it's my fault) - I am such a procrastinator.

My week's jam-packed with requirements: I have to understand, write, and encode the pathophysiology of multinodular goiter, and the surgical technique of thyroidectomy. help will be highly appreciated here... in so doing, I would (hopefully) finish the Case Study encoding by (argh!) Tuesday or at worse, Thursday...

Ang kapoy, naghimo na man unta ko ug schedule for the week, kaya lang it's become hazy because of a relative that'll be visiting from the states - the same relative who spent and let us live in his apartment for 2 weeks while we were in New York... so, grabe talaga ang utang na loob, di ma takasan.

Di na man sa gusto talaga tumakas, kapoy lang kasi makipag-plastican sa mga taong di mo naman close at nagpaparamdam lang kung may dumarating na bisita with expected gifts pa... nakakainis. ayos lang sana kung siya lang ang i-treat namin, kaya lang, parang expected na rin na dalhin mo ang isang barangay ng relatives na sasabay din sa kain at ligaya na walang tulong sa gasto... hay naku, ang mga freelancer ko po na mga relative. unsaon man na, wa gyud tay mahimo.

Ay uy, bahala na.

Will buy lots of iced cofee na lang to compensate (yum!)

...pero bisang kapoy, I can definitely assure you that i go to bed with a smile on my face. lingaw masyado ang OR! Lalo ko lang po na-appreciate ang complexity ng human body - at bakit hindi kung 1 feet away ka lang sa incision at makikita mo talaga ang surgical procedure? ASTIG!

...Obvious na ba ang caffeine high ko?
